“Outside the Box” – A quiet book about a loud topic

Julia studies at the HAFL. She has written a book. Not a traditional textbook. Not a self-help book. A picture book. Quiet, clear, and yet difficult to put into words.

"Sometimes words leave gaps. But pictures build bridges."
This sentence is at the beginning of their project – and actually says it all.

Julia has experienced anorexia herself. And at some point she knew she wanted to talk about it – not with phrases, numbers, or diagnoses. Instead, she used images.

In "Think Outside the Box," we accompany a character who begins to look outside again. Not abruptly. Not linearly. But tentatively, doubtfully, quietly. The illustrations convey this mood. And the few words in between don't distract—they simply keep up.

The book was published on his own initiative. It was presented at a symposium, among other events. Several copies are available at the Swiss National Library and at the bookstore in Krebser Thun .

“The path to hope is trust.
The path to trust is letting go.
But both are a gift,
that we can accept – like a child.”

The goal was never commercial. It was to show that you can talk about a difficult topic—even if you lack the language.
